Shevlin woman killed in ATV crash
ECKLES TOWNSHIP—A Shevlin woman was killed in an ATV crash on Monday morning, officials said.
Beltrami County 911 received a report of an overturned ATV near the intersection of Nature Road Northwest and Mayflower Road in Eckles Township at 8:20 a.m. Monday, according to a release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office. The crash occurred approximately 9 miles northwest of Bemidji.
Beltrami County deputies and a Minnesota State Trooper arrived on the scene within minutes of the call and determined that an adult female operator was deceased at the scene, the release said. The woman was identified as Rosalee R. Miles, 42 of Shevlin. The preliminary investigation shows the 2007 Arctic Cat 650 ATV was traveling north on Nature Road when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch, striking a barb wire fence, and then overturning in the field next to the road. Miles was not wearing a helmet, the release said.
The crash remains under investigation with the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Beltrami County Coroner's Office.
The sheriff's office and State Patrol was assisted at the scene by Bemidji Ambulance Service and North Country First Responders.
