WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Beavers add All-American transfer
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji State women’s basketball team has added NJCAA All-American center Megan Swedberg to its program, head coach Chelsea DeVille announced Wednesday. The transfer will join the Beavers after playing two seasons at Northland Community and Technical College.
Swedberg, a 6-foot, 1-inch center from Ogema, started all 30 games for the Pioneers last season while averaging a team-best 19.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Her rebound total ranked 20th among all NJCAA Division III qualifiers and her scoring total ranked 22nd.
Swedberg was named to the eight-member 2018 NJCAA Division III Women’s Basketball National Championship All-Tournament team, while helping lead the Pioneers to the semifinals of the NJCAA National Tournament. The former Waubun High School player ended the regular season as a MCAC Northern Division First Team and MCAC All-Defensive Team honoree, and was also selected as a member of the 2018 NJCAA All-America First Team.
